Coffee and a good book
I live in a country that's obsessed with tea - indeed, after all these years, there are times even I find I need to decompress with a nice cup of tea - but my first and greatest love in the world of drinks is coffee. Black as midnight on a moonless night.
I grew up drinking South American coffee (more common than African coffee in the US), and to this day I prefer it - medium-roast Columbian or Costa Rican, if I have my druthers. Kona and Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee if I'm feeling flush. Filter or percolated is my favorite; since American-style drip-filter coffee makers aren't so common in the UK, I buy vintage basket percolators off eBay and use them until they break; they tend to last about five years, though the last one made it seven (and is much mourned).
When I need a warm drink at night, however, I turn to green tea or, if I've got any around, oolong. More on that particular obsession some other time...
